Argao is a first class municipality in the province of Cebu, Philippines. According to the 2010 census, it has a population of 69,503 people.



Geography

The municipality of Argao is located at the southeastern portion of the province of Cebu, approximately 68 kilometres (42 mi) from Cebu City. Argao is exactly between Cebu City and the southern tip of Cebu island (Santander). It is approximately 26 kilometres (16 mi) from Carcar, from Alcoy, and from Loon which is across the Bohol or Cebu Strait. The rectangle that is Argao (approximately 20 X 40 km) is bounded, clockwise, in the west by Badian, Alcantara, Ronda, and Dumanjug; in the north by Sibonga; in the east by the Bohol Strait; and in the south by Dalaguete.


Argao is administratively subdivided into 45 barangays.

A Cebu Governor from Argao!

GOVERNOR HILARIO P. DAVIDE III


Born on August 25, 1964 in Cebu City, Junjun Davide is the eldest son of former Chief Justice Hilario “Jun” G. Davide, Jr. and the former Virginia Jimenea Perez. Both parents had careers in public service. Hilario Jr., a native of Argao, had held various elective and appointive positions. Virginia, who hails from Tandag, Surigao del Sur, is a former Director of the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA), an attached agency of NEDA. He is married to the former Jobella Angan and has three daughters: Patricia, Dana and Nina.
